The 3 meter tall sculpture of Jan Pater in the new hall of
the Netherlands Cancer Institute, unveiled December 14, 2017
Video report on the design, sculpting and installation of the statue Aurora by Jan Pater. This 3-meter tall sculpture made of Carara marble was commissioned by the art committee of the Netherlands Cancer Institute-Antoni van Leeuwenhoek in Amsterdam. It is situated in the extended hall leading to the new Center for Quality of Life of the institute, which was opened in October 2, 2017. Aurora was unveiled on December 14, 2017. This art project took 3 years from launching the idea until completing the creation of a tactile, comforting work of art as a beacon to guide patients towards the aftercare facilities of the Netherlands Cancer Institute, an indispensable component of present day comprehensive cancer care.
